Gender Analysis & Integration Matrix (GAIM)

This is a tool that supports structured gender analysis, helping organizations identify gender gaps and develop actionable strategies to reduce inequality. Initially created for USAID-funded projects, the GAIM is versatile and applicable across various sectors, donors, and projects.

The GAIM can be used at both the strategy and project levels and throughout different phases of a program's lifecycle - whether before, during, or after implementation. It ensures that programs are aware of and actively working to mitigate gender inequalities while promoting gender equality goals. The matrix focuses on participatory and collaborative processes, involving key users and communities directly impacted by gender inequalities.

The guide emphasizes that the GAIM prioritizes aligning gender-related findings with an organization's strategic objectives, thus ensuring that actionable, feasible recommendations emerge from the analysis. Iris Group recommends an iterative process, encouraging collaboration between GA teams and stakeholders, and providing flexibility in analyzing and updating gender data as programs evolve.

We're happy to make it available to anyone wishing to use it for Gender Analysis, or related, projects. Please get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions.
