Karine is a feminist policy, governance, and institution-building specialist, teaching as an adjunct at Georgetown’s Institute for Women Peace and Security. She was formerly a USAID Gender Advisor in Pakistan, and has led and supported the operationalization of gender equality policies around the world as Principal of Inclusive Societies, Director for Gender Policy and Practice at Navanti Group, and Global Director with Room to Read. Karine founded and led the Society of Gender Professionals, a non-profit organization of gender practitioners, academics, and activists dedicated to promoting feminist action and applied research, and raising the profile of gender expertise around the world. Karine holds a BA in International Affairs from George Washington University, an MA in International Human Rights from the University of Denver, and is currently completing an MA in Women’s and Gender History at George Mason University.
