Andrea Gartner is a Program Associate at Iris Group supporting a range of projects, including the Chroma Collective and WASHPaLS 2. Providing logistics, communications, and project management assistance, she supports programming and research on topics such as Gender Mainstreaming; Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Menstrual Health and Hygiene; and Sexual and Reproductive Health.
Prior to joining Iris Group, Andrea spent two years as a high school English teacher in Madrid, Spain where she honed her collaborative, interpersonal skills and facilitated cultural exchanges. She also worked in healthcare offices focusing on patient communication and office logistics.
Andrea earned a Bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies with a minor in Environmental Studies from Davidson College. While on study abroad in Argentina, she investigated the relationship between the environment and indigenous women and their independence. She later received a Dean Rusk Travel Grant for independent research into the relationship between local environmental exploitation and indigenous populations in northern Argentina and Chile.
